    Abstract
    In Gaston Hall. First in a series of four sessions on population hosted by the Center for Population Research of the Kennedy Institue at Georgetown University. The sessions were conceived following the United Nations World Population Conference held in Bucharst, Romania and were designed to bring about increased discussion and understanding of what the population problem is, what is currently being done about it, and what to do about it in the future. The panel of the first session includes Carolyn Lewis as Moderator, Ralph Townley, Director and Deputy to the Secretary General of the United Nations World Population Conference, Philander P. Claxton, Jr., Special Assistant to the Secretary of Population Matters at the United States Department of State, Milton Viorst, Washington Star syndicated reporter, and Judith Miller, NPR and Washington correspondent for "The Progressive" magazine.
