Abstract
The interview tracks his experiences from his decision to become a lawyer, to his career as a lawyer in Chicago, through the D. C. Defender service, to the first minority director of Cook County Public Defender Office. He discusses his development of the Illinois Appellate Defender Officer as a concept which became a model for many offices nationally.
