The editor introduces a journal issue composed of a set of articles (see also entries by Lisa H. Newton, David T. Ozar, R.S. Downie, Norman E. Bowie, Peter A. French, Richard T. De George, and James L. Muyskens) on the ethical aspects of collective decision making in health care. He identifies three urgent ethical questions in all collective decision making: how to allocate moral agency and responsibility; how each member of the group should exert his/her own moral agency; and to whom primary moral responsibility is due. He also suggests a six-level model for conceptualizing the ethics of collective medical decision making. (KIE abstract)en
