Treatment of Compulsory Mental Patients

The provisions for detaining and treating patients under Britain's 1959 Mental Health Act, as amended in 1982, are described. The amended Act, effective in September 1983, provides for a general tightening up of procedures and a fortification of patients' rights. (KIE abstract)
