A detailed account is presented of information that has been provided by Stanford University and by unnamed "knowledgeable" sources on the events that led to Steven Mosher's expulsion from the Stanford anthropology department's doctoral program. The department will only say that, while in China, Mosher engaged in "illegal and seriously unethical conduct...and in doing so endangered his research subjects." Mosher contends that he was ousted because he had published an article in a Taiwanese magazine about third-trimester abortions in the Chinese village where he conducted his research. (KIE abstract)en
