Paternalism Versus Autonomy: Medical Opinion and Ethical Questions in the Treatment of Defective Neonates

The paternalistic view that decisions on whether to treat defective newborns are best made by physicians is rejected. It is contended that society should serve as the infant's protector by providing legal standards to govern treatment decisions. (KIE abstract)
