Reduce Fraud in Seven Easy Steps
Science. 1984 May 11; 224(4649): 581.
A panel of inquiry appointed by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to look into institutional procedures at Emory University, where an internal investigation had revealed extensive data fabrication by John Darsee, found a pattern of lax supervision of Darsee's research. Rather than prescribe action for Emory alone, the panel recommended seven procedural steps that should be taken by all NIH-supported research centers to guard against similar occurrences. These recommendations are being reviewed by NIH. (KIE abstract)
