Cloning Techniques Under Cloud: Geneva and Bar Harbor Labs to Check Results
Nature. 1983 Jun 2; 303(5916): 363.
The University of Geneva is setting up an external committee to review research on nuclear transplantation in mice performed by one of its professors, Karl Illmensee. Allegations from co-workers prompted an earlier internal investigation of his work, which demands a high degree of skill in microsurgery on embryos and has proven difficult to reproduce in other laboratories. The Geneva investigations have caused Bar Harbor's Jackson Laboratory to re-examine similar experiments Illmensee performed at that facility in collaboration with Peter Hoppe. (KIE abstract)
