Abstract
The Royal Society and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists have submitted reports to Britain's Inquiry on Human Fertilization and Embryology (the Warnock committee) recommending relatively liberal guidelines to govern in vitro fertilization and research on human embryos. The professional societies' recommendations are described and compared with the provisional guidelines published last year by the Medical Research Council. (KIE abstract)
