The Flower of Medical Science
Silver, George A.
Lancet. 1983 Aug 6; 2(8345): 332-333.
A Yale Medical School professor deplores the scrambling for research funds, promotion, and recognition by medical faculty which has resulted in neglect of teaching and fraud in research. Silver argues that the whole purpose of medical education needs to be re-examined. He also suggests that the separation of medical education from biomedical research might be beneficial to both.
