Can Claims for 'Wrongful Life' Be Justified?
Jones, Gary E.
Journal of Medical Ethics. 1983 Sep; 9(3): 162-164, 174.
The authors reject Joseph Fletcher's arguments that the choice to procreate is a privilege and that parents may be responsible in certain circumstances for producing genetically defective children. They argue instead that procreation is a conditional right, but nonetheless conclude that parents may be held responsible for the "wrongful life" of genetically damaged offspring based on the legal concept of negligence.
