Abstract
The Unborn Children (Protection) Bill has been presented to Parliament by Enoch Powell with the support of nine other members. The bill seeks to prevent human embryos from being created, kept, or used for any purpose other than enabling a child to be borne by a particular woman. Authority must be secured from the Secretary of State for each attempt at in vitro fertilization, and the name of the woman in whom the embryo is to be inserted must be provided. Criminal penalties are prescribed for contravention of the bill's provisions. (KIE abstract)
