Abstract
A brief account is provided of Parliament's efforts to regulate reproductive technologies and experiments on human embryos in Great Britain. A bill that seeks to outlaw such experiments and possibly also the practice of surrogate motherhood is scheduled to receive its second reading in the House of Commons on 15 February 1985. Supporters of the bill contend that nonmedical scientists, as opposed to medical practitioners and lay representatives of those directly affected, have too much control over reproductive legislation.
