Public Education on AIDS: Not Only the Media's Responsibility

Examples of sensational, misleading, or politically problematic newspaper coverage of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) are cited, particularly with regard to its transmissibility and its prevalence among specific groups of people. Public health officials are urged to take an active role in helping to disseminate accurate and balanced information about AIDS. (KIE abstract)
