Doing Ethics in Italy

The "Leadership in Bioethics" conference held at the Rockefeller Foundation's Villa Serbelloni, in Bellagio, Italy, in February 1988 brought together directors of centers of bioethics from Europe and the United States to lay the groundwork for cooperation on bioethical issues that are international in scope, and to discuss the establishment of a North American Association of Centers of Bioethics. Comparative international bioethics was also the topic of an April conference in Milan sponsored by the Istituto Scientifico H San Raffaele and a May meeting in Venice sponsored by the Balzan Foundation.
