Abstract
The background and activities of Sweden's voluntary commission that oversees pharmaceutical industry marketing are described. In addition to monitoring adherence to industry-developed guidelines and ruling on complaints, the commission also monitors the content of written information about prescription and nonprescription drugs provided to health professionals. Perman describes how the commission handles complaints about drug advertising, and addresses issues of competence and bias concerning the industry-supported body. (KIE abstract)
