After a careful review of the relevant literature and consideration for the practicalities of teaching ethics, we designed a core seminar series entitled "Ethical Psychiatry" for PGY3 (third-year) residents at the Baylor College of Medicine. We also surveyed the twenty-one residents who participated during the first two years of the course in order to: (1) determine residents' perception of the need to teach psychiatric ethics, (2) assess changes in knowledge and attitudes and moral beliefs as a result of the course, and (3) assess attitudes toward the course.
