...[W]hat we propose is the development of clinically based Offices of Healthcare Education in Ethics and Law (HEEAL). The mission of such offices would be [A] to provide healthcare ethics/law education to the professional staff, patients, and the community; [B] to undertake appropriate internal bioethics/health law policy research directed to the improvement of patient care and the exploration of currently untested presumptions operative in the clinical setting; and [C] to disseminate its accomplishments through timely, informative, and continuous publications, intra-institutional research reports, and other materials directed to the realization of its mission.
