HPA No. 2000-031 (In re. Little Tavern, Eagle Liquor Building, and one other)
- HPA Number: 2000-031
- Building Name: Little Tavern, Eagle Liquor Building, and one other
- Location of Property: 3331 M St. NW; 3339 M St. NW; 3345 M St. NW
- Date of Decision: 17-Mar-00
- Type of Permit Sought: Alteration; Construction; Demolition
Summary of Decision:
Applicant sought permits for alterations, construction, and demolition on two lots (three structures) in the Old Georgetown Historic District in order to construct a single structure. After approval by the Old Georgetown Board (OGB) and the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA), the matter came before the Mayor's Agent, who, finding that none of the affected buildings contributed to the historic district, concluded that the project should be approved.
Consistent with the Purposes of the Act :
Although none of the buildings that Applicant sought to demolish was found to contribute to the historic district, the Mayor's Agent noted that even if site's "Eagle Liquor" building contributed, the proposed development would be consistent with the purposes of the Act since the proposed alterations and partial demolition ensured the property's continued reuse.
